A Society of Artists Devoid of Art
A serious phenomenon, known as escapism in the English-speaking press, is in the process of dissolving all social ties in the Western world.
Confronted with the chaos of a globalised world, an increasing number of individuals are withdrawing into their own fantasy world. In the midst of an ego trip, now that he is only dreaming of mental and personal revolutions, contemporary man is all the more docile and consumption-oriented. Yielding to the superstructures, this slightly autistic individual is increasingly isolating himself in what he believes to be his 'artistic psyche'. Yet postmodern man is an artist without a masterpiece.
